The pandemic has created a lot of negative impacts, along with a few positive ones. One of such positive impact is the growing consciousness about maintaining hygiene and cleanliness. By now, we assume that you all are washing our hands frequently as advised by health authorities. But, what about your bags? Are you clean them timely? Although you are on homebound and not stepping out, many of us are still taking our bags to grocery stores, banks or even ATM. All these places can be the hotspot of germs. Although experts say that the contagious coronavirus can’t sustain on surfaces more than twenty-four hours, it is better to clean and sanitise our bags on time than eyeing them with suspicion.

According to expert advice, your bag might look clean and tidy from outside, however, the reality can be something else. From grocery tote to hand purse, frequently used bags tend to have faecal bacteria inside them. Grocery bags used for carrying raw meat must be properly cleaned to eliminate infections. Similarly, we tend to use our bags for carrying our dirty laundry and shoes and only 3% of people wash them.

Start by cleaning the handles and the bottom of the bag, for leather, wiping your bag with a damp cloth is the best way to retain its quality while sanitizing it. Make sure you’re using a disinfectant. You may also perform a spot test on your leather bag to avoid ruining them.

For cloth bag, you can pre-soak them in warm water with anti-bacterial detergent. You may also dump them in the washing machine to clean inside and outside. With bigger trolley bags, you can spot clean with disinfectants or disinfectant wipes.
