Osteoarthritis is a very painful condition and so there are various do's and don'ts that people suffering from it are supposed to follow. Osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative condition in which the protective cartilage at the ends of the bones break down and causes bones to rub together within the joint. This rubbing of bones causes joint pain and stiffness. This chronic condition usually affects hips, knees, spine and the joints in the hands. Its symptoms include pain in joints, early morning stiffness in feet and also swelling in feet and back.

Keeping a check on actions, habits and most importantly food is also very necessary in order to relieve the pain that osteoarthritis gives. A low carbohydrate diet can help knee osteoarthritis, says recent studies. It also significantly reduces oxidative stress which relates to reduced functional pain. But if we concentrate on food, there are a few of them which can alleviate the osteoarthritis pain. Although, it is highly recommended to consult your doctor before making any dietary changes.

- Milk: Milk is extremely beneficial for women who suffer from osteoarthritis. Milk helps in building bone structure which ultimately delays osteoarthritis. Women are more prone to this condition than men and so having milk is more advisable to women.

- Bananas: This beneficial fruit can also help deal with arthritis. Since this fruit is very rich in potassium, it is very important for reducing sodium retention and the calcification process of bones that gives bone loss. Bananas help alleviate cartilage damage of joints.
