Researchers have found certain foods can help sharpen our thinking ability and help our brain perform better. These foods should contain a rich amount of fibre, protein, vitamins, antioxidants and healthy fats. If you want to want to give your brain power a boost, here are the foods that can help make you smarter.

1. Nuts:If you are looking for something to snack on during the day, opt for nuts. It contains sugar that will give you a quick burst of energy that will last for a while. It also contains healthy fats that will give you energy that is long-lasting and improve the way you think and focus. Any type of nut you chose is beneficial. However, everything in moderation. You know what they say about having too much of a good thing.

2. Fish: Researchers have found consuming fish can reduce the risk of dementia by almost 20 per cent.

3. Tea: A cup of green tea is a great way to get your morning started and gives your brain power a huge boost. A compound found in green tea has also been found to reduce the risk of memory loss and other similar conditions. Another reason it works well is that it contains a high amount of antioxidants, which helps to increase neuron production in the brain.

4. Spinach: Leafy green vegetables are packed with rich nutrients that help give your brain a huge boost. Instead of something heavy as a side dish like fries, try a bowl filled with mustard greens, collard, spinach and kale. They are loaded with antioxidants and could even improve memory in those that suffer from memory loss.

5. Oatmeal:Oatmeals provide the body with brain power that can last throughout the day, as well as sustainable energy.

6. Berries: Researchers have found consuming berries can delay cognitive ageing by a few years.

7. Chocolate: Researchers found a couple of cups of cocoa on a daily basis for a month helped improve blood flow in the brain and memory in older adults.

8. Coffee: This beloved beverage packs a punch and will hit you with energy the minute you take a sip. It helps you stay focused and help you better perform your tasks.

9. Eggs: A substance called chlorine, which is found in egg yolks, helps to give your memory a boost and improve brain power.

10. Water: The most essential drink on the planet can do a world of good when it comes to improving your brain power. You should consume at least eight glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. If your body is dehydrated it can call you to lose focus and make it difficult to remember information.

You should make it a habit to incorporate one of these foods in your diet every day to get the most out of it and to improve the health of your brain.
