Girls beware! You nail polish may contain toxic elements

You might have noticed that certain nail polishes come with an ‘n-free’ label. That means that the nail polish is free of a certain chemical known as di-n-butyl phthalate (DnBP). With time, consumers are becoming more aware of the products that they use and businesses have learned to keep up with their demands. People know that nail polishes contain lots of harmful chemicals which are now mostly removed to reduce the negative effects of nail paints. However, that still doesn't mean that your nail polish is free from all toxins.

When makers got rid of di-n-butyl phthalate (DnBP), they switched to other plasticisers. This trend has now led to the removal of as many as 13 harmful chemicals from nail polishes. But now, research shows that some substitute ingredients, such as the plasticiser triphenyl phosphate (TPHP), also may be harmful. The researchers found that nail polishes are now also using less and less of triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) which may be a good thing, but it still doesn't prove that the nail paint you're using isn't dangerous.

So, keep a lookout for this and make sure that you use nail paints with as less chemical contents as possible. Stay tuned for more updates.
