Diabetes has become one of the most prominent health conditions in the world. Every other person suffers from it and it can severely impact health if the levels in the body increase. But when we think about diabetes, we often associate the condition with high sugar levels and naturally we assume that we need to cut out sugar from our diet. However, just cutting down on sugar isn't enough. One needs to also consume foods that can help maintain the diabetes levels in their body. Here are some foods that you can consume to help maintain sugar levels in your body.

Bitter gourd/Karela: Not everyone is fond of this vegetable owing to its extremely bitter taste. While some people find it absolutely nasty, others tend to avoid it altogether. However, this vegetable can be extremely beneficial to diabetes patients. It contains a compound called Polypeptide-p or p-insulin which pretty much imitates insulin and can work wonders for diabetics. Plus, karela can also aid in weight loss, so that's just an added benefit.

Finger millet/Ragi: Rice and wheat contain multiple complex carbohydrates which can prove to be dangerous for diabetics which is why it is advisable to not consume these foods. Instead, you could consume ragi which happens to be rich in fibres, calcium and essential amino acids. Try eating a ragi dosa or a ragi paratha.

Okra/Bhindi: Bhindi is pretty much amongst the most famous foods in the Indian household and is a rich source of antioxidants and minerals. Non-starchy in nature, this vegetable also contains a ton of fibres and has a low-glycemic index making it super easy to digest. Since it is also a good source of Vitamin B, it can help maintain blood sugar levels in the body.

Radish/Mooli: Mooli is also pretty commonly consumed in the average Indian household and is a good source of fibres. It helps in regulating and maintaining blood sugar levels. You could eat mooli parathas or grate some mooli and add to it a salad. You could even consume some radish soup for a change.

We hope these tips help you out. Stay tuned for more updates.
