The winter season is finally upon us and Christmas is right around the corner. Now, if there's one thing associated with the holiday season it has to be food. But have you ever noticed how apart from the holidays you also tend to put on weight during the winter season? This usually happens because we tend to get lazier and lethargic during the winters and this way we end up piling on more calories than required.

But just because it's difficult to keep a tab on your weight during the winter season doesn't mean that you shouldn't try. Here are some ways in which you can ensure that you don't put on extra kilos this winter.

Avoid consuming too many warm foods: As we mentioned earlier, during the winters we tend to put on extra calories because we naturally crave warm foods and end up eating too much of them. So, make sure that you avoid consuming too many fat-containing foods and also steer clear of fad diets that promise you fast results.

Cut down on alcohol consumption: Yes, we all know 'tis the season to be jolly but you need to remember that even alcohol contains calories. So, even though you may feel prompted to drink a lot of it, you need to make sure to limit your intake or else you might end up putting on unnecessary weight.

Make sure to get some exercise: One more really important thing you need to keep in mind is that you can't stop exercising during the winter just because it's too cold to step outside. Make sure that you get at least 20 minutes of exercise daily. You could just work out at home instead. Also, remember to do some stretches as it'll help get your body and muscles moving.

Consume lots of vegetables: Vegetables are full of vitamins and nutrients that can help provide your body with a ton of essential nutrients it needs. Team your veggies with moderate amounts of carbs and protein to help get a well-balanced diet.

Try out these tips and see how well they work for you. Stay tuned for more updates.
