Unless you live under a rock, we're sure that by now you've at least heard of the keto diet. The keto diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that focuses on increasing good fat intake and thus burning calories through the process. Since it changes your diet significantly, it can also lead to some side effects. Those on the keto diet may experience brain fog, dizziness, headache, fatigue, cramps, stomach ache and nausea. Usually, these side effects are temporary and dissolve in a few weeks, however, there's one side effect that's more persistent and that side effect is a rash.

For those uninitiated, the keto rash occurs mostly on the upper body. It leaves redness on your neck, chest and back and can also turn into a rather itchy rash. Thankfully, if you take some precautions you may be able to get rid of the rash quickly and effectively. Here are some ways in which you can treat a keto rash:

Check for food allergies: More often than not, we aren't aware that we're allergic to certain foods. So, if you've realised that eating something is causing certain triggers or breakouts on your skin then eliminate those foods from your diet immediately. Eating anti-inflammatory foods can also help combat the issue.

Opt for the right skincare routine: If you've ended up with a dreaded rash then ensure that you follow the right skincare routine. Try not to touch the rash directly and wear clothes that are loose and don't touch the rash either. Moisturise your skin and keep it covered while going out.

Fix any nutritional deficiency: On the keto diet, you'll be required to cut down on carbs and increase healthy fat intake but in the process, you might also lose out on some healthy nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B12 and many others. And this lack of nutrients can also contribute to skin problems. Try to add vitamin-enriched foods to your diet or at least opt for vitamin supplements.

Eat anti-inflammatory foods: As mentioned earlier, if you opt for some anti-inflammatory foods it could help combat the rash by reducing inflammation.

Now, that you know what you can do to combat the rash, give these options a try. And if by chance they aren't able to help tone down your rash then seek the help of a medical expert immediately. Stay tuned for more updates.
