We all must be knowing how dangerous smoking can be for our health. Smoking can cause fatal health conditions, ranging from pneumonia, emphysema to lung cancer. It has been recorded that smoking on an average causes 84% deaths from lung cancer and almost 83% of deaths from other chronic diseases, like COPD, Tuberculosis and the list goes on. To slow down the progression of the diseases due to smoking, stopping smoking is the most effective way to do this. If you are adamant about your decision to quit smoking, we applaud your choice. While it might seem like an easy road, we understand how hard it can be, especially surviving the nicotine withdrawal. The nicotine withdrawal is a short phase usually but can be impactful. You can make it a little less disturbing by practicing these:

It is normal to miss your habit of lighting a smoke every now and then. Combat that urge by keeping your mouth busy with anything that you can chew on, such as hard candies, gum, etc.

You can also look for nicotine replacement available in the market. They come in the form of gums, lozenges or patch.

You might experience sudden craving. During those times, it is good to go out for a walk or do some quick exercises to keep yourself distracted. Taking deep breaths and practicing yoga can effectively reduce smoke craving as well.

Going to places like clubs and pubs might make you want to have a smoke. It is best to avoid alcohol under such circumstances. You can opt for public places to catch up with your friends where you or the people you know can’t smoke. Avoiding caffeine can also help.

It might be difficult to deal with nicotine withdrawal. It can be stressful mentally. If you feel so, talk to anyone near you or seek medical help. Whenever you feel like reaching for a cigarette, remember why you want to quit smoking. It shall help.
