Here are some exercises to burn off those Christmas calories in your food and drinks

The holiday season is upon us and obviously one tends to let things go and indulge in all kinds of food and drinks. Feasting is part of the festive fun, and life is too short to never indulge. So as the Christmas countdown begins, some of our healthy rules, tend to go right out the window. But that doesn't mean that you can't work hard to lose those extra calories you gain. Here are 5 Christmas calorie Kings and what you can do to burn them off.


One mince pie – approx 200 kcals:



One mince pie has approximately 200 kcals. So in order to burn off that amount, all you need to do is opt for a one-hour brisk walk. Now the greatest thing about walking is that it feels more like a pleasure than an exercise and it still works in reducing your calories. Also, it can do wonders for your health and fitness.


A glass of champagne - approx 100 kcals



Did you know that just one glass of champagne contains approximately 100 kcals? In order to burn this off, the simplest option you can opt for is 10 minutes of rope-skipping. Skipping with a rope is a fantastic way to get your heart rate up. And if you don't want to opt for this exercise you could achieve similar results by doing a short session of burpees, star jumps and some bodyweight exercises.


Six chocolates - approx 260 kcals



Well, when it comes to chocolates, one does tend to overindulge shamelessly. The easiest way to burn off these calories you ask? We say dance off! Go turn on the music and dance for about a half an hour to burn off the calories you gain by eating about 6 chocolates. And it's a great way to get rid of stress too.


Big Christmas dinner with all the trimmings – 1,500 kcals



You need at least two hours of running to burn these calories off. It is possible to burn 1,500 calories in one workout, but attempting that isn’t really a good idea unless you’re already very active and used to that level of intensity. A better approach, for most, would be to aim to do regular, moderate-to-vigorous exercise.


Christmas pudding with custard – approx 900 kcals



Who can resist Christmas pudding? The best way to burn off these calories is to go for a one-hour fast swim. Not only is it low-impact, it's also gentle on the joints. And if you can't manage a fast one-hour swim, simply break it down into chunks. It will still amount to a full body workout session.
