Diabetes has become as common as a common cold. Every other person suffers from this prolonged condition for most of their life. But managing diabetes whether through insulin or through lifestyle changes is vital for a good and healthy life. One way to do it is to reduce your sugar intake. There are many types of sugar that are found in food naturally, such as fruits, vegetables and milk. These sugars help in our biological processes.

Artificial sugar, on the other hand, is extremely dangerous for the body. Food labels often use the following words to indicate the presence of added sugars: glucose, sucrose, maltose, molasses, honey, treacle and syrups. Fizzy drinks, ready meals, various sauces, alcohol and quite a few other items contain lots of artificial sugar.

Here are some low sugar foods:

Vegetables: carrots, onions, mushrooms, asparagus, celery, broccoli

Grains: brown rice, crackers, quinoa, oats

Some kinds of food are completely sugar-free:

Proteins: seafood, pork, beef, chicken, lentils, beans, soybeans

Fats: butter, nuts, seeds

And some foods contain a moderate amount of sugar:

Dairy: Greek yoghurt, low fat cheese

Fruit: olives, melon, rhubarb, raspberries

So, if you cut down on unwanted sugar in your food, you'll have a healthier lifestyle. Stay tuned for more updates.
