Lots of changes accompany an ageing body. From slowed metabolism to just feeling slow in general, things can start to take a toll on one's body as they get older. However, if one exercises regularly, the process of ageing can be slowed down by a bit. A new study proves this by showing that resistance training on just one day per week can prove to be beneficial for older adults.

Some of the benefits include improvement in blood valves, better muscle strength and better mental health. A researcher said that individuals who were close to having high blood pressure, high glucose levels, high cholesterol or high levels of inflammation showed the most improvement after a 9-month training program. It was even found that opposed to training once a week, training two to three times didn't show any greater benefits.

Not just physical health but even the mental health of these participants improved after the 9-month training period. The researchers are also keen to point out how much of a difference training for just one day can make. They also added that it was important to train under the right people and follow the right exercise routines to get the most out of the training. Stay tuned for more updates.
