Here's how turmeric can boost immunity and improve gut wellness

Turmeric is one of the most commonly used spices in all Indian households. Whether it's for cooking or for consuming or even topical application, turmeric or more commonly known as haldi has various health benefits. Apart from lending your food a rather beautiful yellow tinge, it also contains bio-active compounds that contain immunity-boosting properties. What's more, turmeric is also known to improve gut wellness.

Turmeric also contains an active ingredient known as curcumin which contains strong anti-inflammatory properties and also makes for a very powerful antioxidant so needless to say, turmeric can work wonders in boosting your immunity. And now that the world is in a state of panic due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is of utmost importance to keep yourself safe and ensure that you stay healthy.

Since turmeric has immunity-boosting properties and can also improve your gut health, you can opt to include turmeric in your diet. Whether it's an allergic cough you have or a runny nose you're fed up of, these turmeric-infused recipes will help get rid of all your health woes.

-Turmeric milk or Haldi wala doodh: For this one, you'll need 1 cup organic milk/rice milk/almond milk/oats milk for vegans, ½ Cup water, 1 tsp Turmeric powder and ½ Spoon honey/brown sugar/jaggery. Start by boiling the milk and water together and then add the turmeric powder and your preference of sugar. Mix all the ingredients well and then strain the milk. Your drink is now ready. Drinking turmeric milk before bed can not only boost your health but can also ensure you sleep like a baby through the night.

-Turmeric laddoos: If you aren't a very big fan of turmeric milk you can always opt for this recipe instead. For this one, you'll need 3 tbsp – Turmeric or Curcumin powder, 2 tbsp – Cow’s Ghee/Coconut oil (vegan option), ½ tsp of Black pepper (piperine), ½ tsp of Dry ginger powder, ½ tsp of Cardamom and 1 tbsp of Jaggery. Add all these ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Once done, use your hands to roll the ingredients into tiny balls or laddoos. You can consume one every day with breakfast. It'll help boost your immunity and will ensure to fight infections and ward off bacteria.
