Here's how you can deal with foods that 'trigger' you to overeat

How often have you eaten something and then blamed it on the food because it looked so delicious that it 'triggered' you and you had to eat it? Well, turns out that using language like "I just saw this food and it triggered me" can actually turn out to be rather problematic. How you ask? Well, it's because when you use such statements, it deflects the blame off you. So, not only will you wash your hands of any blame or guilt but it might also give rise to such behaviour in the future.

What one needs to understand is that there is no malicious external force that causes you to do things like eating unhealthy food. Instead of pretending that something inside of you caused you to lose control over the situation, one must accept responsibility. This is why an expert developed a technique called the 'language of ruthless responsibility' which specially targets overeating.

This technique says that one must always accept the responsibility of eating unhealthy food and must accept the fact that it is a hundred person within the control of the person to choose what they eat. One must understand that binging on food is not something that can be triggered by looking at food. One looks at the food, consciously decides that they want to consume it and then they do. Nobody else makes them do it.

Adopting this technique helps one shift the blame onto themselves which although might make them feel guilty, also helps give control back to them. This way, one is aware that choosing to overeat is always in their hands and it might also help prevent them from binging on food in the future. Stay tuned for more updates.
