Here's how your mom's dating history can impact your love life

For most of us, our mothers are an important part of our early environment and are key to how we relate in our romantic relationships today. And while you may hate to come to terms with it, it's true that the number of romantic relationships you have in your lifetime may closely mirror the number and types of relationships your mother had or has.

As part of a study conducted, researchers in the US came to the above conclusion after examining longitudinal data on more than 7,000 mothers and their biological children since 1979. The research suggests that mothers pass down their relationship skills to their children and this shapes how the children interact with people through their lifetime. "I think some of these basic things that drive our satisfaction never change," said Claire Kamp Dush, associate professor of human sciences at The Ohio State University. "If you observe your mom being very critical to her partner or to you, then you take that into your own intimate relationship. We are learning similar ways of being in relationships from our mothers," Claire added.
Who knew that you could even inherit a similar dating record as your mom, right?
