The fear of catching the contagious infection of coronavirus has made us realise the importance of cleanliness. From sanitizing our hands to our clothes, we are almost at the verge of sanitizing our entire home, which is actually needed. But did you think about your car? While you might not be going out to maintain the given guidelines from the government, your parked vehicle can be the germiest place in your house. Hence, you must deep clean your car as well.

You may start cleansing your car by removing dirt and soil from the outside of your car. Using an anti-bacterial soap and water solution is ideal for this or one may also use a disinfectant solution to prevent any growth of bacteria.

Coming back to the insides of your car, one must not forget to wipe frequently touched areas, such as all the buttons, handles, gear and even the knobs of your four-wheelers. Use a strong sanitiser with a minimum of 80% alcohol to clean areas like cupholders, dashboard, and armrest. Don’t forget the steering wheel! It may not look dirty but can be a breeding ground of germs from you and your family’s hands.

The most difficult part to clean can be your car seats. Depending on your car seat’s material, it is best to be gentle. Start with cleaning them with a vacuum cleaner or simply dust off with a brush, followed by spraying some disinfectant. Seat covers must be changed and washed too.

Finish off by sanitizing your car key as they mostly come in contact with your hands. The entire process might seem lengthy, but prevention is better than a cure, especially during this outbreak.
