For the first time ever the Government of Maharashtra is hosting a wine festival in the state. ‘India Grape Harvest, Wine Festival 2018’ began on 9th of February and will last until 11th of March. The festival will promote wines from 14 vineyards in Nashik. The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has decided to host this event to promote agro-and wine tourism to help develop tourism in rural areas of the country. The festival is organised in and around the area of Nashik to exhibit the best of wines from these regions. Not only will the event include wines from various vineyards, it will also host multiple cultural and social events along with carnivals.

The guests will have a variety of choices since nearly 70 wines from in and around Nashik will be available at the festival. They will even have a chance to interact with Indian and foreign wine manufacturing firms including representatives from Stuttgart (Germany), Wakayama (Japan) and France. Guests can also indulge in activities such as grape stomping, barbecue nights, live music sessions, photography and camping events too. As of now, there are two locations for the event - Vallonne vineyard and Vinchur wine park. The closing ceremony will be held in Nashik and will be a 4 km long stretch of a carnival.
