Here's why men benefit more from cutting down calories

As per new research, it turns out diets may affect men and women differently. Reportedly, the results men and women get from dieting are very different. A new study on pre-diabetes has found this information. Pre-diabetes is a condition where there are symptoms that start to show up before someone meets all the criteria for this disease. But this condition can often be turned around with proper changes to diet and exercise levels.

In the study, researchers compared the results of a low calorie-diet between men and women. While both men and women were on the diet for 8 weeks, the results although good were very different from each other. Men lost more weight, reduced body fat, heart rate and symptoms of metabolic syndrome which as a collection are symptoms of diabetes.

Women lost more cholesterol and lost more weight around the hips but did not appear to benefit nearly as much as the men did. Although there were many variations, both lost enough weight to reduce the odds of diabetes. While the researchers are still working on this, for now, it might explain why two people of different genders don't lose weight as effectively when they go on a diet together.
