Here's why your skin isn't looking as amazing as you expected despite being indoors

We've all been in isolation for weeks, now that the lockdown has been in effect for so long. While the situation isn't ideal most of us are still figuring things out, the one thing almost all women believed would be good for them in this duration was that their skin would look fabulous. After all, we aren't stepping out so we aren't putting on any makeup and we have so much more time to opt for a better skincare routine. Unfortunately, that isn't working out so well either, is it? In fact, most of you may have noticed that your skin is actually getting worse while in lockdown.

While some of you might be having issues with dry skin, others might be having acne and breakout problems all of a sudden. If your face is itchy or oily or just feeling absurd for no reason at all, don't fret, you're not alone in this. What you're suffering from is known as 'Isolation skin'. Wondering what this is? Isolation skin is basically when your skin can't figure out how to be because you're confused about your lifestyle changes and this is leading to stress which is causing these skin issues.

A few reasons why your skin might be flaring up at the moment are:

- There's a lot of stress going around right now. People are in unpredictable situations and we don't know how things will turn out. Needless to say, this might be affecting your mental health but what you might not know is that it can also make things worse for your skin.

- You're also probably exercising less since you're stuck at home all day. Unfortunately, that can also lead to skin issues like acne and breakouts because blood circulation is reduced when you don't exercise enough. “It’s one thing to be outside in fresh air, which is great for your skin, but sweating is a way we detox,” says an expert.

- A change in your diet is one of the most basic reasons why your skin might be acting up. You have easy access to your kitchen so you're probably bingeing on everything that you can and obviously, that isn't great for your skin.

So, what can you do to make your skin look healthy again?

You need to start by opting for a simple but powerful skincare routine. Make sure you're using products that actually suit your skin type instead of just investing in random things you might believe are good for your skin. Opt for some good old sheet masks since these can really work wonders for your skin. Don't use too many skincare devices at home (Unless you're an expert), because you don't know how your skin will react and you don't want the situation to go from bad to worse, do you? And most importantly, remember that just like this pandemic, your skin won't last this way for long either. This too shall pass. So be careful and stay tuned for more updates.
