Home remedies that can help you reduce toothaches and gum aches

Gum aches and toothaches are very common these days. We fail to take care of our teeth and gums as much as we should. It's essential to visit the doctor at regular intervals and get your teeth and gums checked for any cavities or gum issues. If you find any kind of swelling or pain in your teeth or gums, it could hint towards a bigger trouble. Minor brushing mistakes like brushing too hard or just little deficiencies can actually lead to bigger gum problems or toothaches. However, if you don't wish to see a doctor immediately, you can put some home remedies to use.

Turmeric: This one is known to be a powerful antiseptic and an anti-inflammatory herb. It is used for many medicinal purposes since a lot many years now. Turmeric can relieve pain and inflammation. It's also known to kill bacteria. You can drink it with a glassful of milk or simply make a paste of turmeric powder and water and apply it on the affected area.

Salt water: One tablespoon of salt added to a cup of warm water can do the magic. You can mix it well and take a sip of this water, swish it around in your mouth like a mouth wash. You can even gargle with salt water as it helps inc cleansing your mouth and teeth all to well. It even kills bacteria and cleanses your gums as well as reduces swelling.

Peppermint tea: This tea is quite popular for its soothing impact and it can also have a cooling effect. One cup of peppermint team can work magically for gum aches or toothaches. You can even use warm tea bags or even cool it for a while before applying it to the affected area. This will help you in reducing the pain and also keep you sane.

Cold compress: You can take an ice pack and wrap it in a clean cloth and then put it against your mouth on the affected area. Don't put direct ice on your gums or teeth. Ice pack can help in reducing swelling and pain too.
