Summertime makeup calls for pastel shades that seem to be everyone’s current obsession. From Anushka Sharma to Sara Ali Khan, plenty of the Bollywood actresses love packing pastel shades on their eyelids. While these summery shades are available in different textures, ranging between, matte, shimmer and metallic, sometimes it can appear a little washed out on the face. Some techniques can help to elevate pastel shades from looking flat and sad to simply mesmerising if done right.

Begin with prepping your eyes with a moisturising eye cream and prime your eyelids for a smooth finish. Take an eye base of your choice to completely seal your eyelids using a blending brush or you may use an opaque white eyeshadow to work as a neutral base colour. This step is going to ensure that the pretty pastel shade stand out well, so we recommend you to not skip it.

Over the created smooth base glide on a pastel shade from your eyeshadow palette. Layering is the key here, so, you must start with a thin layer and proceed with a second layer after blending well. This will ensure that the pigments last for a long time.

Take the same pastel shade and start blending towards the crease to create a fading or gradient effect, or you might want to work with a soft muted colour to deepen your crease.

Finish off by packing some highlighter on the centre of your eyelid and inner corners of your eyes.

From here you can do your brows, eyeliner and kohl to your liking. Don’t forget to put on some falsies for drama or just adequately coat your lashes with mascara to intensify the look. That’s it!
