If you suffer from acid reflux quite often, these foods will help you fight it

It is very important for our gut to be healthy in order to maintain our overall health. And acid reflux a.k.a heartburn is one of the most annoying health issue to handle and get rid off. While there are a lot of foods that should be avoided to keep the acid reflux at bay, there are a few food items that help in getting rid of heartburn if you already suffer from it.

- Lemon: This one is an acidity regulator that helps in balancing the body's pH levels. It is very important to neutralise the acids created in the body and lemon works wonders to do just that. You can simply slice a lemon and sprinkle a pinch of rock salt over it and suck on the lemon slice. Doing this will give you instant relief. You can also mix the lemon juice in a cup of water or soda and drink it up. Other than lemon, fruits like oranges, kiwi and grapefruit also equally help.

- Ginger: One of the world's oldest remedies for acid reflux is ginger. The root of the ginger contains the maximum benefits. You can either make yourself a ginger infusion or simply suck on a piece of it for quicker results. You can also add some freshly grated ginger to water and sip on it or include ginger to your food. Ginger has the ability to to take away all the heartburn issues from your body. But it should definitely be taken in moderation if you're prone to low blood pressure. You can consume around 1 g of ginger a day.

- Egg whites: Our body needs vitamin B6 and egg whites have that in great amounts. It is the body that mobilizes certain amino acids that in turn helps in reducing heartburn. Other than egg whites, you can also consume peas, beetroot, cottage cheese, bananas and beans.

- Honey: One of nature's most bountiful anti-fungal, anti-bacterial substances, Honey works magically on the gastrointestinal system. It also helps in killing bacteria which partially is why it has a good long shelf-life. Honey helps in keeping all stomach-related diseases at bay which also includes ulcers.
