In the midst of our hectic schedules, work commitments and social obligations we often tend to ignore one of the biggest necessities for a healthy mind and body – adequate sleep. While most of us use concealers and under-eye creams to hide out fatigue, which is our body’s way of telling us to slow down, there are some consequences which cannot be hidden.

A recent study was conducted in which scientists took photographs of healthy and predominantly young students post them taking two consecutive nights of proper sleep (approximately 8 hours). The students were then photographed after two days of disrupted and inadequate sleep (approximately 4 hours). 122 people were asked to rate both sets of images on 2 grounds – one being how healthy, attractive, trustworthy and sleepy did they look and second being how much they would like to socialise with the people in the photographs.

The results said that people were 2.1% less interested in socializing with people who had inadequate sleep and they further rated the students far less attractive than their pictures in the set with adequate sleep. Woah, you might want to take your beauty sleep much more seriously now.
