The summer season is finally upon us and that means your skin is going to be facing the wrath of harsh temperatures and pollution. With the change in temperatures, you're also going to have to change your skincare and haircare routine. You can't use products that you did during the winter season or some other season. This is where one magical ingredient steps in. Used for ages in Ayurveda, this ingredient is known for its healing and aromatic properties. The ingredient we're talking about is vetiver, more commonly known as khus.

Make a summer drink: Vetiver contains refreshing properties that will help keep acne and pimples at bay. So, make a refreshing summer drink using it. All you need to do is soak 25 grams of the root in water for 2-3 hours and then boil the water for about an hour. Once done, strain the water and add 2-3 spoons of lemon juice to it. And voila! Your drink is ready.

Use it as a face mask: In a bowl, add two tablespoons of vetiver powder, two tablespoons of sandalwood powder and two tablespoons of rose water. Mix well to make a paste and apply the paste to your face. Let it dry before rinsing it off.

Make a facial mist: One of the best ways to keep your skin hydrated and moisturised is to use a facial mist. You need to make this exactly as you make the summer drink. Once you strain the water from the roots (after soaking for 2-3 hours and additionally boiling one hour), add some rose water and pour the mixture into a spraying bottle. Your facial mist is ready to use!
