A lot of us resort to kitchen ingredients while prepping for DIY masks at home. The kitchen ingredients that we usually use are natural and work really well for our skin and hair. Ingredients like honey, turmeric, multani mitti, etc. do wonders for our skin as well as hair. Although, these ingredients can very much harm your skin if not mixed well or used properly. People must choose ingredients based on their age, skin type and climate conditions. While there are some ingredients that can do magic to your skin, there are others that can actually damage the dry skin.

We've got you a list of ingredients that you should absolutely avoid if you have dry skin or during winters.

Lemon: As much as we know how lemon is a magical kitchen ingredient for our hair and skin, it is advised to avoid using it during winters. Since lemon is very acidic in nature, it can dry out your skin and lead to severe burning sensations or even rashes. If you have a dry skin type, make sure you avoid lemon at all cost.

Cucumber: This very hydrating veggie has natural astringent properties and should be avoided during the cold days. Cucumbers may damage your skin and give you a rather dry look as it sucks out all the natural oil from your skin, especially around the eye area.

Potatoes: This vegetable is very popular to tighten the skin as it contains starch. But, you must avoid potatoes during winters as the starch content in them can rather make your skin dry and dull. It can also damage your skin if applied to an already dry skin which can lead to skin irritation.

Rice flour: This flour has natural skin tightening properties when used in a face mask. However, it can work against your skin during the cool season and if you have a dry skin type due to the starch content in it which can make your skin look and feel leathery. Avoid using rice flour at all times if you have really dry skin as it tends to remove all the moisture from your skin and adds wrinkles to your face instead.
