If you must have heard your adults well, you'd have known that rain water is the cleanest form of water, distilled and pure. It was even said that the first rain can cure many skin and hair issues. And that rain water can work excellent for both hair and skin in many ways. But with the climate that we're blessed with, chemicals and pollution along with dirt has ruined it all and how!

Today, the air is majorly filled with pollutants and mixed with humidity which only increases the content of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide in the air. This only means that rain water now is only bringing this down which makes this water dangerous for our skin and hair.

Rain water for skin: Skin experts say that it's a myth to believe that rain water is good for the skin. The first shower sure acts as a relief from the scorching heat and also might make us feel good to be drenched in the rain. The first rain is usually full of pollutants and dirt which isn't really going to work well with your skin. Rather, it has high levels of pollutants and might disrupt your skin even more and give you skin infections.

Rain water for hair: When you get drenched in the rain, the water tends to make your hair sticky and dull. The water only damages the cuticles and makes your hair rough and dry. Also, if the water has high pH level, it could give you burns and your hair might end up getting brittle. Your hair could also lose the natural sheen and luster. Due to the humidity, lice tends to grow too easily in your hair.

Here's how you can avoid the damage due to rain water:
- Take a bath once you get home and make sure to clean your entire body and hair.

- In order to avoid breakouts, cleanse, tone and moisturize.

- Always apply sunscreen, no matter what the season. It will add a layer of protection on your skin and not let your skin get affected by rain water.

- Make sure you keep your hair well hydrated with serum as it protects it from any kind of damage.

- Always keep your scalp dry and use appropriate shampoo to make sure that lice don't grow in your hair.
