From lavender soaps to lavender blends used in aromatherapy, the scent from lavender is widely used to add a soothing fragrance to various products. Today, mental health is a cause for concern and anxiety seems to be an issue most are plagued with nowadays. And while there are several drugs to help cure anxiety, research now states that lavender could be the answer to it all.

Research has found that those exposed to the smell of lavender show fewer signs of anxiety. Researchers also recommend that it is as safe an option for anti-anxiety drugs as sleeping pills are. Unlike drugs, it has no side-effects that affect memory, male breast growth and may lead to birth defects. The calming effect of lavender can also be used for children or elderly patients before surgery as they struggle to take medication.

It is stated that around 40 per cent of people globally suffer from anxiety at some point in their lives.
