Has Mahendra Singh Dhoni's decision left you saddened?
Today, on January 4, 2017, Indian cricket team's captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni resigned from the ODI and T20 captaincy. Dhoni has played the third highest numbers of ODI as the Indian skipper after Ricky Pointing and Stephen Fleming. He has informed BCCI about his resignation and said he wished to step down as the captain from the limited-overs formats of the game. Dhoni has played a total of 283 ODIs out of which 199 he played as the captain of the Indian team. However, Dhoni had already retired from Tests on 30th December 2016 in Australia, post which Virat Kohli took over as the lead. A phenomenal journey from the small town of Ranchi to leading India to many victories, Dhoni's resignation as Indian's captain has saddened the country. Dhoni has made himself available for the Champions Trophy in England, which is said to decide whether he will continue to play the 2019 World Cup.
With Dhoni stepping down, and Virat Kohli's visibly successive rate at the Test matches, he is currently the front-runner who could replace Dhoni in all three formats of the game.
