Ever since people have been in a lockdown, almost everybody's been trying their hand at cooking or at least helping their family members in the kitchen. But with the time that cooking three meals a day with bare minimum visits to the grocery store has made this task a tad bit more difficult. Cooking is one thing when you have each and every ingredient available and present in the kitchen. But it's another when you can't find specific ingredients and also can't do without that one ingredient. So what do we do then? We try to make it at home! This automatically makes it 100% hygienic and healthy since we consciously make it how we'd want to.

From chocolate chip cookies to banana bread, you sure must have tried making all that. But, this time we're talking about making some brown sugar at home. Ever tried that before? For a lot of such recipes, you might need a good amount of brown sugar. And if you can't readily find it in the stores, the only option you're left with is to make it at home.

If you're thinking you won't even have the ingredients to make brown sugar at home, worry not. We're here to blow your mind by saying that brown sugar is nothing but just granules of white sugar that has been enhanced with molasses. So, as long as you have the two ingredients needed to make brown sugar, you are sorted!

The only difference between light and dark brown sugar is the ratio of molasses to sugar. For light brown sugar, you need 1 tbsp of molasses for every 1 cup of sugar. While with dark brown sugar, you need 2 tbsp of molasses for every 1 cup sugar.

In order to transform your plain sugar into brown one, your recipe requires to place the appropriate amount of sugar and molasses in a food processor and pulse until it is entirely incorporated. If you don't have a food processor, you can simply mix the sugar and molasses with a fork.

If you won't be using this brown sugar immediately, you can store it in an airtight container at room temperature for a month.

That's all that there is to make brown sugar. Easy, no?
