05/8Figure out what he likes

Sure we women love it when men go down on one knee and pop the question but that isn't necessarily what your man might like. So, first make sure you know what his likes and dislikes are. Say he likes sports, so you could just take him to a football match and then propose to him during half time. It'll be the most memorable match of his life! Try to get gifts too, like his favourite chocolates or his favourite beer. Trust us, he won't be able to wait for you to become his wife.

Yes, as much as he's going to love the proposal, you need him to be surprised not shocked. So, instead of just randomly popping the question to him, give him subtle hints. Tell him how you love him so much you want to spend the rest of your life with him. Cook for him, give him small gifts. This way he'll be anticipating something big and then when you propose he'll just be ecstatic.

07/8Pick the right time

Don't just randomly propose. If you're putting in so much thought into the proposal you might as well try to make it as perfect as possible. Pick the right day and time to do it. For example, say you two decide to do something special for your anniversary, you could just pop the question then. Or, you could go down on one knee on his birthday and make it an even more memorable experience for him.

08/8Think of what to do afterwards

See, to be honest, it is going to be a bit awkward. We've not yet fully grasped the concept of a woman proposing to a man, so even though your boyfriend is going to be thrilled he's also going to be a little confused. So, plan something for the time after you propose to help put both your minds to ease. You could go grab a bite at your favourite place or go watch a film that you'd both like. Let it settle in and let it take its time.
