It is very common these days for people to feel stressed out and anxious for some or the other reason. And ever since the lockdown has begun, people are finding it hard to cope up with it. Nobody saw this coming and a lot of people are stuck at home either with no family around or no work to keep the mind occupied. This could make them feel more stressed and anxious. This is why, it is very important to indulge in mindfulness meditation as it can reverse the psychological as well as the physical toll of stress on a person's body. Meditation can also bring you in a better mood, give you better sleep, help control pain and even decrease blood pressure.

If you're someone who is entirely new to meditation and would like to give it a shot, here are a few things you can keep in mind:

- Firstly, choose a corner in your house that is quieter than other areas. Sit down with arms by your side and on the knees. It would be preferable if you rest your back against a wall if you have a weak spine.

- Now, look in front of you and make sure you have a straight spine, breathe slowly and close your eyes. Move your mind to somewhere peaceful or where your memories make you feel happy. Then, channelize your emotions towards this very moment or thought.

- You now need to take long breaths and slowly calm your mind. There will be many other thoughts interrupting your mind but let go of all of them. Let your emotions and feelings flow naturally. Be still, maintain a calm mind and body.

- Relax your shoulders and pay attention on you breathing. Inhale and exhale using your nostril. Inhale long and take in as much air as you can and exhale all of it till your lung's capacity.

- Thoughts will keep coming in your mind but you need to concentrate the most on your breathing and stay calm while doing it. Belly will rise and fall. Let go of all the emotions that you might be feeling - happy, sad, angry, frustrated, hopeful, etc.

- Even if it makes you cry, do so and remember that you're healing. This is normal.
