Women who've hit their 40s and 50s experience menopause which means that the estrogen levels in their body starts getting affected and so do their periods. It begins with irregular periods and then they stop getting them eventually. Although, this is the time when their hormones are in a chaotic state which means that it can very much impact their health and skin as well. It is because of the changes in women's menstrual cycle and estrogen levels that the skin can take a toll and can experience dryness and flakes. Hence, women need to educate themselves with all the things that could happen to their skin during menopause:

Dark spots: Dark spots or age spots can start appearing or becoming more prominent when women hit menopause. This can happen due to estrogen that can impact the melanin production in the skin. It can also be due to the fluctuations in the estrogen levels that the skin gets prone to age spots.

Skin Thinning: When the estrogen levels fall, it can impact your skin and hence estrogen plays an important role in your skin quality and texture. The decreasing levels of estrogen can impact your skin which causes hair thinning and skin thinning as well. Your skin becomes very thin and more prone to bruises and also breaks easily. This can speed up ageing as well.

Uneven skin tone: Since estrogen levels drop, it also affects the collagen production in your skin that in turn impacts your skin and makes it look uneven and dull. There are times when it can also cause pigmentation and can also lead to uneven skin tone. This is when your skin needs more care and nutrients.

Ageing: It is due to the low estrogen levels that the production of collagen can get impacted which ultimately decreases the elasticity of your skin. This means you start to lose all the healthy fat in your skin and it even starts to sag and wrinkle. Not just that, you can also see some fine lines appearing on your skin.
