The collective people of the internet of a deep set for after naps – especially when they come in the middle of a work day. Some say it makes them more productive, others tell tales about how it instantly freshens you up. However, if you were one of the sceptics, who never believed a word they said, here is some scientific proof that settles the case, once and for all!

According a study that was presented at the American College of Cardiology’s 68th Annual Scientifc Session, people who snoozed in the midday were likely to have a noticeable drop in blood pressure.

The same research team had earlier found an association between reduced blood pressure levels and fewer antihypertensive medications being prescribed to people with high blood pressure issues.

“We obviously don’t want to encourage people to sleep for hours on end during the day but on the other hand, they shouldn’t feel guilty if they can take a short nap, given the potential health benefits,” said Manolis Kallistrators, MD, cardiologist at the Asklepieion General Hospital in Voula, Greece.

The research’s finidnings were able to associate taking a nap during the day with an average 5mm hg drip n blood pressure, which the team said is on par with what is expected for other third party blood-pressure lowering interventions.

We have the same opinion as the doctor’s – a little extra sleep isn’t worth guilty being about. What do you think?
