Mumbai rains: The city experiences its heaviest rain since 2005

The city of Mumbai woke up today to a deadly downpour from the heavens and as the clock ticked it turned into the heaviest rainfall the city has experienced since the scary 2005 floods. The roads are blocked and have turned into bodies of water, cars are moving with their tires completely submerged, fighting against the water, and even the city’s well-trusted lifeline, local trains are running on a massively delayed schedule.

While the weather forecast had predicted that due to high tide the pouring will continue till 4:30 p.m. at least, the city saw a beacon of hope about an hour post noon when the clouds rested and the rains subsided, in some areas even stopping completely. While the harbor and central lines continue to face difficulties on the same magnitude, the western line seems to have calmed down considerably and it feels like things would not turn as bad as it had been predicted.
