Okay, let's just be honest. Most of us spend most of our time glued to our screens. But honestly, can we really be blamed? We do need technology to work so it's only natural that we look at our screens all day long. But a new study has found that it isn't millennials or Gen Z but senior citizens who actually spend most of their time on their screens. The study found that Americans aged 65 years or older spend one-third of their day looking at a screen as compared to Americans aged 18 to 34.

So, while the millennials and Gen Z might be the most tech-savvy ones, it's actually the senior citizens who're having fun with the screens. The data from the study shows that while senior citizens spend nearly 10 hours a day on phones, computer screens or television, younger Americans spend only about 7 hours a day doing the same. The research also found that the main difference in these time gaps was due to television.

Senior citizens spend about seven and a half hours a day glued to their television screens while younger Americans spend only 4 hours a day watching TV. What's more, this apparently also includes having the TV running in the background while the people were doing something else. And naturally, since senior citizens have a lot more time on their hands since most of them are retired, their TVs are on for longer.

The researchers were also concerned about addiction since now tech addiction is being compared to that of drug and alcohol addiction. Leora Trub, PhD says that technology addiction is more like food addiction. She said that technology is, "... out there for everyone, everyone needs to use it to some extent for their daily lives. It's an alluring and compelling thing." She also said that watching TV isn't really a bad thing as long as it is done in moderation much like one does with other things. Stay tuned for more updates.
