Over 30,000 farmers reach Mumbai at dawn to protest at the Azad Maidan

Over 30,000 farmers have reached Mumbai at dawn today to gherao Maharashtra Assembly. Reportedly, a crucial meeting was to be held at 9 am, where the farmers were to put forth their demands. The meeting was said to end at 12 pm. The farmers decided to march overnight rather than during the day, to avoid causing any inconvenience to the children sitting for their exam today. Since the farmers have received an abundance of support from Mumbaikars, they decided to put forth their protests in the least inconvenient way for Mumbaikars.

"We do not want to put SSC students in any trouble. But we will reach Azad Maidan. Therefore, we have decided to start walking past midnight, Ashok Dhawale. #KisanLongMarch" tweeted the President of the Kisan March. The farmers decided to gherao the Maharashtra Assembly today. They also planned to seek a complete waiver of loans and power dues. They also demanded the implementation of MS Swaminathan Committee that assured a Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the farmers. The farmers walked 180 km from Nashik to Mumbai to put forth their demands.
