With the onset of technology, people tend to do everything online, including dating. But setting up dating bios can be quite the daunting task. Researchers at Badoo checked their database to get an insight into the most popular male and female 'about me' sections, to figure out the most popularly used words that appeared in people's bios. The top noted word in women's bios was 'love'. For men, it was '6ft'. Words like ‘music’ and ‘gym’ appeared in both lists.



The researchers also found that 87% of the bios that were swiped right on, were funny. Badoo's in-house dating-expert, Claire Stott, said that a person's bio needs to describe one's personality while also being positive. He also said that people often feel overwhelmed when trying to decide what to include and what not to include.



He added, “Do not fear - our data tells us that a popular bio is one that is short and snappy, around only 20 words.” He also urged people to specify their interests like their favourite film or their favourite dish. "These sorts of things will help you to stand out and can often add a touch of humour. Even if your preferences turn off a few people, those that do appreciate them will probably be better matches in the long run,” he said, adding, “Plus, you're making it easier for them to initiate the conversation with something meaningful.”
