Quick and effective home remedies for acidity

Acidity is a common digestive problem everyone seems to experience. While it is relatively easy to cure, the tricky thing about it is that it can happen at any time of the day. It can be caused by a ton of things too – like eating something way too spicy or oily. Or you may have gorged on fattening foods like pizza or pasta and chips. Even seemingly regular habits like drinking coffee can make you a victim of the digestive issue. Acidity, in definition, means disturbing the body’s natural pH levels and making the stomach’s ‘acids’ overflow.
While this may acidity may be a basic ailment, it has its way of making one uncomfortable and pretty much invalid until they’ve found a cure for it. So what do you do, when you’re suddenly feeling the symptoms of acidity creep up and you have no antacid on you? Here are two quick but effective remedies.
Aloe Vera juice

Aloe vera is well known for its healing properties. It is often used in many a beauty DIYs for its soothing properties. Its same soothing properties are beneficial to soothe the acid reflux in your cut. Since aloe contains strong anti-inflammatory properties and loaded with powerful vitamins and amino acids, it cuts down acidity levels and cools the body down. Hence, it is used as one of the options to provide quick relief.

How to have:
-Extract the pulp from the aloe vera leaves and mix it

This one might seem counterproductive, but hear us out. While most flavourful spices heat the body up, cumin, cardamom and cinnamon, and ginger powder are also known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Cumin seeds, in particular, have powerful properties which can help you get rid of bloating issues.


How to have:
In a saucepan, boil some water (1 glass). Add spices like cumin seeds, cardamom, ginger powder, and clove to it. Let the concoction simmer down and once done, cool it.

Your drink is ready. You can also add jaggery to enhance the flavour.

Here are a few other precautions you can take

-Post your meals, avoid laying down right away. Doing this can trigger acidity. Instead, sit up for at least 30-40 minutes after every meal or take a 10-15 minute brisk walk.


-This might seem like a temporary solution. But, avoid drinking carbonated and fizzy drinks as they disturb the pH levels of your stomach.


-Citrus juices (like lemon, orange, and grapefruit) should also be avoided especially when you are suffering from acidity. Since they are highly acidic, they can aggravate the reflux in your stomach.
