If you're an Indian, you'd know that rice and roti are the most important part of your meals in India. You can have these with any kind of sabzi or curry. You can even make parathas for breakfast. But, do you know which one is a better option for you to consume when you'd want to watch your weight? If we go to view rice and roti as carbs, both of these are unhealthy. If you skip carbs, you can reach your goal on that weight loss scale faster. Hence, roti and rice are going to make it a little difficult for you to work on that body to get in shape. Although, if we only focus on knowing which out of the two is a healthier option to consume, we might have something for you to read.

Weight loss is usually when your overall body reduces the intake of calories. Rice and roti, if consumed in the same amount can provide the same number of calories, more or less. Hence, instead of opting for one over the other, you can just give both an equal preference but in lesser quantity. Excessive calorie intake will make you put on weight. But if you follow a balance, it won't.

Make sure you're having a balanced meal instead of choosing only one thing to eat for a meal, either rice or roti. The one difference between the two is its fibre content. Food that contains high fibre content will make you feel full faster which means, you will eat lesser. Among rice and wheat, whole wheat contains more fibre content, after which comes brown rice and then white rice. Even when rice has low fibre content, it can still be combined with veggies and whole pulses, so that you can eat lesser quantity of rice and more of the nutritious veggies and pulses.

Hence, you can eat both roti and rice, but within a limit and also balancing it out in a meal is the key. You can also add some protein like dals, lean meat, vegetables or pulses to it.
