Simple ways to stick to your health goals while travelling for work

Travelling for work can get hectic fast. If you are not prepared, it will through your routine out of whack and make sticking to your diet challenging. When you are on the road for work, you need to adapt and have good strategies to stick to your health goals no matter where you are.

The key is to break down your goals into manageable and small tasks. Here are a few simple ways you can stay healthy while you are travelling for work.

* Try water infusions to achieve a flat belly: A great way to stay hydrated and achieve a flat belly is by sipping on water infusions all day long. Staying hydrated will also help you differentiate between feeling hungry and thirsty."Simply bring a reusable water bottle and fill it with lemon or other fruits," dietitians Lyssie Lakatos and Tammy Lakatos Shames, the Nutrition Twins, told a news portal. Adding,"The extra flavour will keep you sipping while the combination of water and potassium from the fruit, herb, and/or vegetable infusion will help to flush bloating culprits like salt and help restore hydration."

*Tackle constipation by practising ab exercises:It's easy for travellers to feel constipated if they are not careful about what they are eating. However, a short on-the-road ab workout could help tackle this problem. "Do this digestion exercise to help prevent falling prey to traveler's constipation," the Nutrition Twins told a news portal. Adding, "It will make your stomach flatter by helping to flush waste and toxins from the body by encouraging elimination of stool through the intestines.

*Make your dinner plans before your trip: A quick search over the internet should help you find restaurant options that are suitable for your dietary needs. "Without planning in advance, dinner becomes a game-time decision, making it easier for coworkers or friends to pull you along somewhere that can compromise your healthy lifestyle," Margaux Lushing, the founder of Well + Away, told a news portal.

* Invest in resistance bands: When you are on the road, make sure you pack resistance bands for the trip. They will help you get a good workout right in the comfort of your hotel room. "I always travel with a few different resistance bands since they don't take up any space in my bag and you can get a pretty good workout with them," Paul McGowan, founder of Study Hotels, told a news portal. Adding "You can also use them right in your hotel room so you can work out whenever your schedule allows."

*Make use of fitness apps: When you are travelling for work, your days are going to be busy. The best way to stay on top of your fitness goals is by downloading a few apps to make sure you stick to your goals. Find an app that works for you.

*Take a hot bath on the first night that you arrive your destination: Your body and mind need to reset. A long hot bath will help bring you to a state of calm and relaxation. "I do my best to ensure that I'm staying in a room with a bathtub, so on my first night I can return home on the early side and luxuriate in a long bath," Lushing told a news portal. Adding, "I bring a little sampling of bath salts and oils from home in TSA-approved containers and use them to turn my bath and bathroom into a mini spa. Afterward, I'll do a 10-minute meditation and go to sleep early."

* Rest up: You must get a good night sleep even while you are on the road. Make sure you get between seven or eight hours of sleep so you are fresh for the next day. "I learned about transdermal melatonin and hemp patches from an editor friend and now swear by The Nite Nite patch," Lushing told a news portal. "I press it on when I get into bed and am out like a light within 20."

* Make a plan: There are many things you may not be able to control, but there are also plenty of things you can. Make sure to have a plan and stick to a routine as much as possible. "Wake up and go to bed at the same time, try to eat around the same time, set up specific hours for work and rest when possible. This will help provide some familiarity to something as sporadic as travelling," Michael Kuang, CEO of Syphon Fitness, told a news portal.
