You came home late and exhausted. It was too much to take the glitter off your face and you hit the sack without a second thought. Oh no! You slept with your make-up on. We all are guilty here. Although we know how important it is to never sleep with the make-up on, we still end up making this grave skincare mistake. Going to sleep with makeup can clog your pores leading to breakouts in the morning. The skin needs to breathe and rejuvenate in the night, having clogged pores with chemical-induced makeup, no matter how natural your makeup claims to be, will harm your skin. So, what’s the fix? You need emergency skincare that will control the damage you have done to the skin. This skincare should be the first thing that you do right after waking up in the morning.

The obvious thing is to get rid of the makeup from your face. Your skin can already be stressed, dull and dry. We suggest you go for a double-cleanse to get rid of every dirt and grime without stripping off your skin’s natural oil. An oil-based cleanser should be the first cleanser.

The next step would be a mild scrub. Exfoliate to get rid of dead cells that your skin must have shed at night. If you have sensitive skin then try a toner with exfoliating properties like glycolic acid.

You can put on a face mask with calming and soothing properties to nourish your skin. A sheet mask is an excellent choice in this case to add a boost of hydration.

Finish off by moisturising your face, neck, and areas around your eyes. Don’t forget to put on a lip balm to rescue your chappy lips from yesterday’s matter lipstick aftermath.

Refrain from putting more makeup on your face and don’t touch your face frequently. Follow up with a night routine and a facial massage. You will be good to go on the next day. Damage repaired!
