According to a new study, it has been suggested that one-third of the heart patients have the symptoms of anxiety and depression and they are also at a higher risk of progressive heart diseases and other severe health issues.

Christopher Celano said, “Depression and anxiety remain under recognised and undertreated in patients with heart failure. Diagnosing a psychiatric illness can be challenging in view of the significant overlap between psychiatric symptoms and those related to heart failure.”

Celano further added, “Making the effort can help to identify those who are at higher risk for poor cardiac outcomes and to implement the treatment of these disorders.”

Christopher also said, "Depression has been linked to the development and progression of heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases.”

It is also said that heart failure is a chronic, progressive condition in which the heart cannot pump enough blood which causes the symptoms like fatigue and shortness of breath. This causes death within five years in about 50 percent of patients.
