It must've taken quite some time and energy for you to finally go get your hair coloured. And if we throw in the fact that you spent quite some money on it too, seeing that colour getting ruined afterwards can make you feel rather awful. But unfortunately, since we can no longer step out to go to salons, a lot of us are left to fend for our coloured hair by ourselves. However, that doesn't mean you can't do a good job of protecting your coloured hair on your own. Here are some dos and don'ts you should follow to take care of your coloured hair the right way.

-Use cold or lukewarm water to wash your hair. Hot water has a tendency to make your hair colour fade sooner since it opens up your hair follicles. So, make sure to avoid washing your hair with hot water.

-Use colour protecting shampoo and conditioner. Other shampoos or conditioners might contain ingredients that could harm your hair's colour and disrupt its natural texture. Because of this, your hair might end up looking dull and might even lose its shine. So, make sure to use the right products.

-Opt for a hair mask every time you shampoo your hair. Applying a hair mask can ensure that your colour stays intact for longer. Make sure to leave the mask on for at least 5 minutes after you're done shampooing your hair.

-Don't shampoo your hair too often. Overwashing your hair can strip it off of its natural oils and can damage it so imagine what it can also do to your hair colour. Unless you want the colour to fade away quickly, make sure not to wash your hair more than twice a week with shampoo.

-Don't colour your hair at home by yourself. You might feel tempted to touch up any greys that show up or you might want to give your roots the touch-up they need but this might just make your hair look like it has patches of different colours all over. Wait for the salons to open so you can get it done properly or else just tie up your hair in a bandana or a scarf. But do not colour your hair at home.

Follow these tips and your coloured hair will be alright for the duration of the lockdown. Stay tuned for more updates.
