Applying hair oil is a great way to boost hair health. You all must have heard about the benefits of a nicely done champi right before taking a shower. Oiling hair helps in the growth of the hair while nourishing the mane and restoring hydration against breakage. It also restores the shine and volume of the hair to prevent premature graying. However, these benefits can only be achieved if you are conditioning your hair with oil in the correct way.

Many people tend to oil their mane before washing it with shampoo. According to experts this does more harm than any good. Applying hair oil on the greasy and dirty scalp doesn’t allow the nourishing properties to seep down the scalp. It can also clog your hair follicles at the same time. Applying hair oil on cleansed hair results in faster and better absorption of the goodness from the oil.

The temperature of the oil has a lot to do with the benefits. Applying too much heated oil can damage your hair whereas applying oil at its low temperature can cause you fever or cold. The ideal temperature for the oil can be anywhere around the room temperature or slightly above it. Lukewarm oil helps to stimulate blood circulation which in return strengthens the hair roots and prevents hair loss.

Massage is an important part of the hair oiling session that can be highly de-stressing if done correctly. Spare some extra minutes to deeply massage your scalp for better conditioning of hair with the help of your fingertips. However, avoid scratching your scalp with your fingernails during the massage.

Not only your scalp, but you must also pay attention to the ends of your hair. Apply oil generously focusing on strands and tips of your hair. However, avoid rubbing your hair with your palm.

You can leave your hair soaked in oil for 2 hours to overnight depending on your hair problem.

Some of the best hair oils for hair oiling are:
Argan oil for dry and frizzy hair Coconut oil for nourishing all hair typesMelon seed oil for scalp sensitivity Almond oil for dandruff prone hair Macadamia oil for damaged and treated hair
