When it comes to workouts and exercise regimes, you'll hear a bunch of different opinions from multiple people. While some claim that working out on an empty stomach can prove to be beneficial for you, others claim that it isn't all that healthy. Workout on an empty stomach is also referred to as fasted cardio in which the body supposedly burns fat to produce energy. However, many other people have claimed that fasted cardio can do more harm than good to your body. So, what's the truth behind this?

Turns out, working out on an empty stomach isn't as great as it is made out to be. When you haven't eaten, you end up with less energy and this reduces your stamina. Moreover, it can also lead to other side effects like feeling nauseous and faint. And ultimately, your body ends up burning muscle mass instead of fat and carbohydrate stores in your body. So, the bottom line is that it is ideal for you to eat before you exercise, with an ideal gap between the two of course.

You must ensure that you consume easily digestible foods and eat them at least 2-3 hours before working out. Opt for proteins, carbs and healthy fats and drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated. If you're opting for vigorous activities, consume foods that will give you energy and for moderate-intensity activities like yoga or walking you can just opt for something healthy.

So, make sure to eat right before your workout session and you'll see just how much of a difference it can make. Stay tuned for more updates.
