On Tuesday morning the Oscar nominations were announced. It had met with several criticisms and was called diverse. There were no Asian or Latino nominees feature in any of the acting sections has been called out, but some have praised the list on social media reaction like more additional than usual.

Apparently, it is the sixth consecutive year that no Latino actors have been nominated for an acting Academy Awards; even in 2017, Dev Patel was the only Asian actor to get an Oscar nominee for acting.

Jorge Ramos said, "Latinos are 18 percent of the population and 23 percent of moviegoers, but only three percent of speaking characters in the film.”

Actress Constance Wu opened up about the lack of Asian American representation, suggesting Hong Chau should've gotten a nod for ‘Downsizing’. But otherwise many others have celebrated the high-profile nods to female, black and transgender people in this year’s Oscar nominations.

The awards will be handed out on March 4 at a ceremony in Hollywood hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.
