There's new diet in town - the lemon detox diet

After weeks of ravenous eating and drinking, a detox diet sounds like the one thing that fixes all the damage. Now, if you must know, detox diets are usually quite extreme. As is the lemon detox diet, despite how refreshing it sounds.
The lemon detox diet involves drinking just a lemon juice based mixture for 1 to 2 weeks, without any solid foods. It aims at removing toxins and cleanses the body. But as one would expect, there is no scientific proof to back the claims. In fact, some scientists have warned people against the extreme diet.
However, despite the warnings, if you’re still interested in the workings of the diet, read on! Our body is naturally highly efficient at breaking down and removing toxins like alcohol and bacteria from our bodies. The large intestines absorb the nutrients from the food and distribute it to the rest of the body. The liver filters the dietary consumption to eliminate the toxins and the kidneys filter the blood to remove any excess waste and ensure the body has enough water. The lungs remove waste carbon dioxide from the blood and exhale it out of the body.
The lemon diet claims to make this process smoother.
A lemon detox diet involves replacing meals with a mixture of 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
• 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
• cayenne pepper
• water
If you ask us, the detox diet does seem quite extreme, and we’re personally not keen on doing it. However, if you feel like you can, we’d recommend you visit your doctor first.
