Although honey is effective to treat burn wounds, there are certain things that everyone must keep in mind.

Honey can mainly cure first-degree burns at home or anywhere else. If you’re hurt while cooking and want an immediate remedy, honey is ideal for you. It is safe for moderate to mild burns that only affect the outer layer of the skin. For other kinds of burns, honey can cause irritation.

The kind of honey you’re using also affects the healing of wounds. Experts suggest using medical-grade honey to avoid complications. Manuka Honey has also shown amazing results to heal burn wounds. According to a study, the tropical use of honey in the right way can heal partial thickness burns more easily and quickly than other treatments. This is why It’s important to know the correct way of dressing while using honey for its maximum benefits.

Meanwhile one should always take medical help if the burn wounds are in sensitive areas on the body, such aaas hands, face, feet and groin area. Honey as a home remedy might not work for treating burn areas with more than 3 inches in size. It might also not help to heal burn wounds of an older adult or infant.
