Things you need to keep in mind if hitting the gym is one of your main resolutions this year

With each New Year, people tend to set up new resolutions for themselves. It could be something as simple as waking up earlier in the morning or something a little more difficult like volunteering at pet shelters. However, if there's one resolution that most people make on New Year's Eve, it's to hit the gym regularly. And if you're one of those people, here are a few things that you need to keep in mind.

- You need to enroll at the gym that is closest to you, not to the nicest one. You are more likely to head to the gym regularly if it is closer to where you live.

- Opt for the exercises that you enjoy doing and don't try the ones that you hate. If you like running on the treadmill more as opposed to doing cardio then stick to what you like. You're more likely to think of this as a fun activity instead of a tedious exercise.

- Go to the gym even when you feel tired and don't want to. Treat going to the gym as if you'd treat a doctor's appointment. You know you can't miss out on those. So, unless you take a firm decision and ensure that you turn going to the gym into a regular routine, you won't be able to achieve the healthy lifestyle that you're looking for.

A study also found that the willingness to go to the gym also depends on where a person lives. For example, if you live in a metro with a combination of outdoorsy sports-oriented places and colleges, you are more likely to head to the gym. It was also found that the wealthier areas of a city are more likely to have gyms. Well, if you do decide to go to the gym, do keep those points in mind.
