This injection could prevent deadly peanut allergies amongst children

Peanut allergies might not seem like a very big deal but trust us when we say that they are. There are plenty of people who suffer from a peanut allergy and in Australia the ratio is so high that almost three in every hundred Australian children suffer from the issue. This could also prevent them from consuming certain foods and drinks that contain peanuts. Over the years several studies have been conducted on trying to find cures for peanut allergies.
One such method that recently turned into a breakthrough is the PVX108 injection. Trials were conducted on patients in Melbourne and Adelaide for over 18 months post which it was found that taking this injection just once a month had the potential to stop peanut allergies from occurring in people. "There are two benefits, it is safer and the injections can be given two weeks or four weeks apart rather than eating a little bit of peanuts every day for the rest of their lives," said a researcher.
In other trails, people were exposed to a certain amount of peanuts to help them develop a tolerance to the peanuts. However, these people had awful reactions to the trials and immediately required an EpiPen to combat the reactions. This injection, however, has proved to have no such side effects. "This is a significant breakthrough in the search for a safe therapy for peanut allergy," said another researcher.
