For a lot of people, a cup f coffee is like a ritual to start their day with. It kickstarts their day pretty well because coffee is a tasty drink and it also makes the mind alert as well as helps you improve the mood and bring more energy. Most importantly, coffee stimulates the bowel movements that is needed to cleanse the system of the last day's food.

Gastroenterologist Dr. Sarina Pasricha said, “Drinking early morning coffee works synergistically with gut motility to create healthy bowel movements.” If you're someone who drinks coffee on a regular basis, you might also be the one to go to the bathroom many times through the day. Don't worry, it's absolutely normal to relieve yourself between three days a week and three times a day. This is why, coffee may improve normal bowel movements.

Coffee has a stimulant that causes frequent contractions of the gastrointestinal tract. At times, the body gets overworked and coffee can then cause stomach issues. This is why, people can get constipated, soft stools and even cramps.

The expert explains, "Coffee has caffeine, and caffeine can boost your metabolism. Caffeine can act as a laxative. This is why drinking coffee can cause some people to have a bowel movement not long after consumption."

You can choose a coffee type with roasted beans at a higher temperature which makes it less acidic, like cold coffee. You can also drink coffee along with your regular food in order to reduce unpleasant bowel movements.
